my car is still making an really annoying rattling/knocking noise that I have no idea where it’s coming from. 

 

it’s got through two MoT’s with it and been serviced, so it shouldn’t be anything major, but it’s so annoying.

 

its not the drop links. From what I can remember it’s had new track rods, new track rod ends and new arb bushes in the past year or so. Garage has just installed new brakes and checked nothing rattling on the exhaust 

Check the exhaust isn't touching the underside of the car somewhere.

It shouldn’t be mechanic looked at it a couple of weeks ago 

In my boot ,I carry a mobility scooter, and if SWIMBO doen't get it in right and fails to shut hatch with a decent thump so that the tailgate closes properly I hear an annoying rattle . Simple way to check the rear hatch lid is to lift the latch on the driver side gently. If the hatch lock is properly engaged, then it will be tight. If not engaged properly the lever will lift loosely before getting taut.

The rattle is coming from the front drivers side not the rear of the car

Pop the right hand side of the car up onto a kerb. Lean under it from half a metre behind the back of the front wheel looking forwards. Hold your phone/camera out so it is directly behind the console bush. Take a few pics with flash on,  and flash off and see which works best. Don't stop taking pictures until you get one that's well lit and the bush is in sharp focus.

Law needs to be extended to up-silling? LOL.

 

Can get a piccie of the bushes using a torch and a camera phone by lying on the ground next to the car. Wave camera around until you see the rear of the front suspension arms. Possibly set a 3s delay to avoid camera shake unless voice operated camera works properly on yours.
