Hi everyone. My Octavia has 2 littre auto dsg . When it changes gear between 1-2 and 3-4 it jumps and feels it goes into neutral before going to the mentioned gears it also makes squeeky sounds sometimes from first gear onto second. I am told I need to change both clutches inside dsg and cost 700 pounds do you guys think it is the case and clutch is damaged? Please help. It's only done 70000 miles and dsg was serviced at 33000 miles. Thank you

It’s possible, however only by looking at live data from the control unit can it accurately be diagnosed.

They connected to their tool and their decision is based on the diagnostic live data. Just worried they may only change oil and do some adjustment. How will I know that they will fit 400 pounds worth of kit?!

Thanks Teckle. I appreciate your reply I just took my car to them and they showed the clutch packs and both valves they recommended to change too. Will get my car back in two days and see. Will update you of results.

Cheers

Has it cured the problem?

Can’t help but think if your not happy with the work then maybe you need to challenge the garage.

Personally I would have got a second opinion from Skoda or a specialist to put your mind at rest prior to going ahead with the work. Bit late now for you.

From the reading I’ve done into the DSG gearbox a lot of people’s issues have been under servicing of the oil and filter but I’ve also had an Audi A3 with DSG before and the mechotronic unit had to be replaced twice luckily both times by Audi.

The problem has now gone away, but these few bits £800 is a bit too much. Isnt it?! I know it's too late, but I can still go back to them if I get a clue how much there cost in reality

First find a supplier that isn't Skoda. Good luck with that. You'll need it.

What are these parts called?

There are two solenoids, looking on eBay they are anywhere between £90 and £140 delivered. The other parts look like friction rings for the clutch, on eBay there is a set for £185.

£400 for parts doesn't seem massively expensive based on that...

I will be happy with that as long as the problem goes away.

Thanks guys for your replies.

God bless us all
