Octavia vRS II Grill Mod

Featured Replies

1. Standard

2. Lower Grill sprayed and Stainless steel Mesh. What Derek has done, at first I wasn't sure but its lovely in the flesh

3. Mesh Photoshopped out

I was going to go with number 3 but there's something that really draws me back to no.2 (something Audi A4 about it).

Big  to Derek for photos and meet to have a look at it.

@ TECHIES, do ya reakon the grill is removable without removal of front bumper, I know a couple of clips were left over (as spares ;) ) after the removal of the above. I just wanted to try and prevent it.

Ooh I like the 3rd one

Never been a fan of mesh -- I see to many saxo's and corsa's with it -- usually going rusty too

I too would be interested to know how the grilles come out - might need to be speaking to my local bodyshop :)

gaff you did not tell them that the mesh is stainless steel, dose not rust cheers!!!

sorry gaff i see you said it at the start ,i am getting defensive CHEERS!!!BTW you might warn the lads about the tyre pressures NICE ONE !!!

Do you think you could make the pictures a little bigger:confused: , they dont quite fill my screen enough bud

Yea guys FYI, Derek thought Mk1 handled better than the Mk2, till I checked his pressures, he was running 45 PSI. He's well please now.

I must say the mesh is very subtle, you probably notice it a lot there due to angle and sunlight. I have another pic taken in the evening with 2 cars side by side which I'll post when I get a chance.

had a run in the car today with adjusted tyre pressures cant believe the change in the car grip much better steering has better feel and it takes a lot more to get the traction control light to come on cheers Gaff !!!

Original is best...

I like No.3 best, subtle and understated  . Where did you get this from?.

No 3, but with the chrome grill body coloured too.

Way too much goin on in pic 2. go for pic 3 i think.

I am likeing Pic 2, taking into account gaff's comments on the light etc, but also pic3 makes the front end look so much better, wonder why skoda never did it.

I have an excellent paint shop locally, I may take mine up and get them to quote for colour matching mine when it arrives.

good job Gaff (and Gaff's padawan learner :) )

Thinking about it, I have a contact for plating, so may ask if it's possible to colourcode the lower grille, and chrome plate the vertical bit's if you get my meaning

Number 1.

I really can't see the point behind number 2. Take a black air intake, which is obviously an air intake, and spray it blue to match the rest of the bumper, which makes it look less like an air intake, and then put stainless mesh behind it (which let's face it can't really be seen, I had to do a double take between pics 2 & 3) to try and make it look like racy air intake...

Gaff i think you should put up the picture of the two cars side by side to give a better impression of my front end,( i am getting lashed) i think the picture is doing the work no justice cheers!!!

Its Dereks car in No.2, I think I was the same when I seen the pics, but the flesh is a different story (it's much better).

A lot of people don't like the front bumper and this really improves it, you really have to see it. Even BPM (which really dislikes it was impressed).

Heres another comparison pic, the grill is not as noticable. I think a lot of the original no.2 pic is the angle and light (in order to show what it looks like. ), unfortunately its a bit dark.

I was honestly very impressed by it .

Does the modified car in this picture have the mesh?

Yes :) It doesn't really stand out saying look at me, its very subtle, and as I said at the start there is something nice about it.

I think we need a clearer side by side shot.

pic 3 is the best... thats how it should be as standard... skoda if you read this.... DO IT!

I agree - blue grille NO mesh looks best

But to make the front end even smarter - get some silvervision bulbs - the orange ones look pap imo. :thumbdwn:

Bear in mind, that Pic 3 is photoshopped, so I just made the area between grills all black (so you would normally see the rad etc).

I think I'm going to need to take another look at Dereks before I finally take the plunge :)

Derek correct me if I'm wrong but is your mesh like the below,

400-294363.jpg

no i dont have a pic of it but it is not pressed steel it is more like individual strands spot welded in a square pattern give me a shout during the week we can meet up CHEERS !!!
