Radar Stop

Featured Replies

I was driving toward the exit from a supermarket, at the junction my exit was clear both ways,

when a person walked around a car parked almost opposite ..... Bang the brakes came on,

people on the nearby footpath looked at me as if I was mad .

This is the second occasion the auto stop system has "interfered" anyone else

have this odd situation?

Happened to me twice. It never broke at full force, just a little kick on pedal.

First time I was coming to a standstill traffic on left lane and was drifting to empty right lane. Radar probably picked up a corner of the car in front and freaked out. It felt like ABS activated on one wheel for a split second.

Second time was a mystery to me. I was approaching roundabout, no cars around and suddenly it beeped and kicked on the brake. I have no idea why. Woke me up :D

Crisp packet close in front of the sensor did it for me. They have metal in them.

Had it a few times, once was passing a crossing point with no pedestrians but metal railings either side... jammed the breaks on for no reason. Other times have been when a car is indicating left in front and although I can see its clear for them, they're already turning and there is absolutely no danger it kicks the break in for a split second. Bit annoying, but in one way its nice knowing its working and should help in an emergency... as long as it doesn't cause the car behind to slam into me!

Have had my Fabia 4.5 years its happened twice for no apparent reason. Once, when the car 2 in front braked suddenly for a flooded road the brakes came on stopped safely and 2/3 times the warning tone and display came on but i was slowing down anyway. Still its nice to know its working Joe

Happened to me too on at least three occasions, so I disabled it. I've managed for 50+ years without the feature, so I don't think I'll miss it!

Mine has saved me from two bad accidents,so glad I have it.

I wonder how you stand, if the insurance companies have the spec. of your vehicle and you "disable" it

From the manual:-

■ Front Assist (ambient traffic monitor. sys.) - Set the assistant for distance
monitoring to the vehicles ahead
■ Active - Activate/deactivate the assistant
■ Advance warning (Version 1) - Activate/deactivate warning
■ Advance warning (Version 2) - Activating/deactivating and setting the distance
level at which a warning occurs
■ Early - Longer distance
■ Medium - Medium distance
■ Late - Short distance
■ Off - Deactivation of the warning.
