105 - 80 ;)

Have you done the obvious things like checking brakes aren't binding and that it's had a service recently including fuel filters etc.

@Taximan1978

How long have you had the car, has it always been like this, how many miles on the clock?

Just a bit of a clue type stuff.

Had the car 4 years and it's done 212 thousand miles.

It's serviced every 6 months and it's due 1 now.

As far as the brakes go a don't think or feel like there binding.

Thanks.

Have you tried unplugging the maf to see if it makes any difference?

No.

Well, if it runs better, you should buy a new genuine MAF. Otherwise, the MAF is probably not the problem.

as above, the maf controls the fueling so an out of spec maf can either under fuel (loss of power) or over fuel (poor fuel consumption)

Thanks al have a go

So a disconnected the maf sensor and it made no difference as of yet am going to leave the plug disconnected to see how it goes

So it's been disconnected for a while now the performance seems a little better fuel economy on the  MFD has gone up a couple of digits so am wondering if a took it off and cleaned it because it's been on the car all the 4 years ave owned it ave never replaced it.

Any suggestions thanks

Is it worth cleaning it or do a just buy a new 1.

Also the smell out the back of the exhaust isn't as bad as when it was plugged in.

clean it.  You can buy proper MAF cleaner but if I had contact cleaner or brake cleaner on the shelf I would try that (but I'm tight)

You Tube it.  Lots of How To vids

So a cleaned it the performance got a little better but the smell out of the exhaust it stinks.

The smell disappeared when it was unplugged so could that still lead to a failing maf sensor.

Any thoughts thanks.

Sounds like your maf is past it's best and time to get a new one.  When I changed mine it made a massive difference and best to stick with Bosch ones as cheaper makes don't last.
