Creaky window solved

Featured Replies

Had a weird creak develop recently where the passenger front window engages with the seal at the top. It would creak and goran when the car was stressed over a speed bump, curb, etc, really annoying.  Tried silicone spray, Gummi Plege, nothing worked.

Finally tried Turtle Wax on the window channel and door frame and the noise is gone, this will be my go to creak repellent from now on.

PS. Its also a brilliant product, used on both Superbs and the look like new.

I find it weird that window would create noise under driving conditions as the seals there are "textiled" or how its called. The noise on my superb comes from door seals not window seals and other Superb's I've driven.

The seals attract contaminants, pollen, tree sap, road grime, bird poo, dust, grit, algae etc. which regular washing doesn't always easily remove.

They also degrade over time through the operation of the window (the glass rubbing against them), UV exposure, extreme temperature fluctuations, overly aggressive car cleaning products, frost and ice etc.

Was weird alright, the noise was not there if the window was down a mm or two so I suspected the channel the window sat in, but I spayed the hell out of everything so it may have been the door seal in some way.  The important thing is that the noise is gone!

I get this too, though liberal applications of gummi pfleger (or "gumbo prefer" as my speelchucker called it:D) has so far kept it at bay. But it has to be done every fortnight. So I'd welcome an update on longevity if you don't mind @Steviedakota.
