wheel shake

Featured Replies

I am trying to find out the best way out of a problem, i have a octy VRs i have had two front disc's n pads changed twice

The shuddering when breaking went away but came back again quickly on the next journey

Some times at 40 ish the steering wheel really shakes quite bad.

when pressing hard it usually breaks fine but some times shakes.

The last time i had these changed the said it might be the calipers sticking but greased them up well

anybody help/ idears besides change the discs 3 times in 6 months?

Do you stand on the brakes after you have come to a stop? If so that could be warping the discs. Also i had sticking calipers on an old fiesta and no amount of grease could fix it.

Sorry for not being too much use.

At speed...and when it's safe to do so...brake very hard a few times.

It has been known, and I have had experience of this, for a build up of residue on the pads....braking in this manner will get rid of it.

Try also doing a search for this as it has been covered in more detail.

have you got standard or after market wheels,if you have got the latter, you may need spigots to stop any vibration,i believe ebay sell them

cheers

Neil

My Lucas pads suffered what I called "bobbling" after some pretty heavy braking from silly speeds on the airfield.

I found the braking at speed method diddnt really work in my case so I removed the pads, gave them a light brushing with a wire brush then refitted them.
