Alloy wheels, straight swap ?

Featured Replies

Some Polo alloys are on offer cheap locally, tyre 185/60/R14 is the same as my Fabia; are they a direct replacement ?

Yes, as long as it's a Polo 9N.

thanks

Check whether the Polo wheels are 4x100 or 5x100.

4x100 only have 4 wheel bolts and won't fit the Fabia.

Also, most 5x100 Polos when fitted with 14" wheels had 5Jx14 ET35 rims with 165/70R14 tyres fitted as standard. Owners often fitted wider 175/65R14 or 185/60R14 tyres to these narrow rims.

Are these alloy wheels 5Jx14 ET35 or 6Jx14 ET43? The handling is less sharp when 185/60R14 tyres are fitted to 5" wide rims but the ride is more comfortable. The handling is sharper when 185/60R14 tyres are fitted to 6" wide rims but the ride is less comfortable.

As far as I can see at a quick scan through, only the "Jerez" alloys are 5J, all the others for 9N Polos are 6J or wider.

From the photo it looks like they are VW standard  SaoPaolo type, nothing fancy. catalogue says 6J x14 H2 ET43
