Is tunning box treated the same as remap for insurance purposes??

reason I ask is there is only a quoted 10 bhp in favour of remap however they are

Most insurance companies that cover tuning boxes/chipping/remaps treat them basically the same and charge according to the percentage increase in power over standard.

A 25% increase in power will cost you the same in extra insurance no matter how it's achieved. They tend to work in bands , i.e. 1-15% , 16-25% , 26-40% etc etc , so if the extra 10bhp from a remap compared to a tuning box takes you into the next banding you'll pay more. If not then you won't.

The only way you'll find out for sure is to phone them and ask.
