Quite annoyed again with Skoda Customer service

Featured Replies

Perhaps its just me but having bought a new Karoq exactly a year ago... Never had any update info..... ever,    by letter, email or Skoda Connect.    Infact it was this site that informed me of a possible update on the 1,5 petrol engine...(This came to ahead as the car every few months unexpectedly cut out at a junction or roundabout)   Nearly killed me,!   It was a small village garage in the wilds that knew of the update not Skoda Customer services.

I had a live chat today with Skoda as I had not been informed of any renewal for my Skoda Connect.. They just cut it dead.......And I wondered why on earth would I pay over £100 to renew a pointless service?

I don't expect Skoda to be perfect,   but they have no customer service as far as I can see..    "Computer says no"  comes to mind!  Do you think Connect is worth it?

Might just have to look at other manufacturers when I buy shortly. Shame its my second Skoda

So if your car nearly killed you every few months, why did you not contact Skoda ?

Also as your car is a year old it will be due a service and the software update would be carried out then.

Re Skoda Connect I renewed mine after a year, as I find it a useful service.

I also find the RTTI part of Connect useful so just paid for that part.:thumbup:

Kenny I did contact Skoda Customer services    about the stalling car...They said there was nothing they could do about it and were not aware of a engine problem  and I also wrote for advice to this forum which told me of the engine update.. No,     the garage says it does not need a service yet and I did buy it exactly a year ago last week.

Just been to Skoda as my ŠkodaConnect is not working they want me to book it in “car only a few months old “ although I can’t login in to the connect app either?? Maybe off for updates!! Spent hours trying to sort it today NO LUCK!!!

@Biggles33

Your car left the factory set fo Variable / Flexible servicing so unless you ask or a technician decides to change it to Fixed Servicing your car is not due a service for another 12 months,

or until 18,000-20,000 miles.

If you want a Oil & Filter change and a look see inspection just get one done.

Thank you Roototooteman you are right and thanks to  the others....Don't mean to moan but I feel for the connect ROAD tracking   20 to 30 pounds is a fair price...above that and I don't think its worth it due to my driving...   If it had been 30 I would happily pay that.

Thank you

@Biggles33

Has all been well since the Software Update, and can we give a big up again to the Victoria Garage Maud in Aberdeenshire & their staff where they know more than Skoda UK Customer Services staff.

(not difficult though!)

I can report,   since the lovely Victoria Garage,   Maud did the update,  which Skoda CS claimed did not exist..  The car has been great..    I was on a very long journey the other day and perhaps the top end may be slower than before....But I was very spoiled by the VRS Octavia I had.   So can't 100% say it has lost a bit of power..  I did notice when cold a little stutter once or twice which I became aware of but nothing else as,  it went when car got up to temp.  43mpg long distance eco mode.

Victoria garage said the car would let me know when it needed a service....I am very happy driving the distance for such a great family garage.

I may discuss with them the Skoda Connect fee as they are more clued up and trustworthy than Skoda CS or the local dealer... My son is still running about three Mots later with same front brakes on the VRS that needed 750 pounds worth of work according to the local Aberdeen dealer .Thus,  Karoq was bought in England..so they lost a sale and future servicing    Maud here I come!

@Biggles33

If you do not use it already give the car a tank of Tesco Momentum 99 just to see how it goes.

Feels like what is going to the filling stations since the winter petrol arrived is a higher octane than the 99 minimum up your way.

Just 5 pence a litre more than the cheapest unleaded around.

Think you hit the nail on the head  Roottootemoot  It was the cheaper middle pump Tesco petrol I had put in... Will try the 99 again thanks

Also issues on 17 plate Octavia facelift. No infotainment WLAN Connect app or web portal. See posts in Octavia forum.

Traffic didn't work today and no joy trying to login to SkodaConnect either on phone, pc or in car. Would concur with someone in the Octavia forums that suggested it was down to the Skoda servers, hopefully they will sort it out soon but seeing as the Update Portal has also been down for some time now you have to wonder. I also have an internet connected cat flap and from time to time the servers that look after that go down but they usually have it all back up again next day.

Edit: Just had a live chat with 'Luke' on the Skoda site who said they are aware and it's being looked into though I don't think there's any idea when it might be up again. Luke did offer to pass my details on to customer services but I'll just see if it's fixed tomorrow, probably needs a reboot.

Excellent ! At least confirmation there is a problem. Will keep trying this end to connect and if successful will post.

Good that Luke is aware and 'they' are 'looking' into it.

Yet, Skoda Connect is failing for week or so as I recall, Update Portal is showing 'An unexpected error. Please try again later.' also for a week or so...

Skoda Connect and all their applications are such rubbish.

Have also live chatted with 'Mustapha. Acknowledged Connect is down and will pass over to a Case Manager as I asked about compo as it's as paid for service. A couple of days was suggested as fix timeline.....

Skoda connect seems to be working again this morning though I had to log in and out for my Karoq to appear in the garage, first time in it had disappeared.

Still down for me. Connect app and the web portal. Will keep trying ....

Just tried again, saw my garage but then it threw me out and no longer working.

When will we all learn, Skoda connect really is rubbish. Glitchy at best, useless at worst.

To actually pay for it boggles my mind.

Under developed, under funded, under maintained. A gimmick.

Skoda UK contacted me shortly before the cars first birthday via email politely offering me a discounted renewal on the Skoda Connect services. I filed the email.

Still unable to use Connect - the last update for my vRS is shown as 6 days ago 😫 really poor service from Skoda and I've told them so on Twitter - I'm sure that they will suggest I DM them - pointless - get fixing the issue and keep us the paying customer informed with progress.

It hasn't worked properly or consistently since the day it was launched.

No news here, we'd better get used to it.

Might as well rebrand it by calling it DISCONNECT for what good it is. Had it for free for the first 12 months but hardly used it. Then they have the cheek to ask people to pay for it. SIMPLY NOT CLEVER.:thumbdown:
