Would it be  possible  to retrofit a steering wheel with  phone  controls, so that you  can answer any calls  by  pressing  the button  with  your thumb

Yes. A new gateway is required I think. @SashaGrace might be able to help. I have a wheel with buttons sitting in the garage if you wanted it for a small sum. PM me if you want it.

You will need a High CAN Gateway, this is a bit of a pest to change but it’s worth it for the MFSW :)

Is the gateway in the same position as the mark 2???? In behind the glove box If so would  one  from  a scrapped car be interchangeable without  any coding

Will keep you  in mind

I think the MK3 gateways are different to the MK2, on't know where they are located though. I know the steering wheel buttons are much different.

It’s in the drivers footwell above the pedals, no, coding will be needed along with Component Protection removal and FeC re activation. You may be lucky, some people claim the mid spec gateway works too. Really depends on the exact car and parts fitted.
