Skoda 4x4 system

Recommended Posts

Having previously used rollers to demonstrate 4x4 systems on other vehicles for customers I was interested to hear from one who wanted to know if he put one wheel of his Karoq 4x4 on the roller would it when put into snow mode drive  off, or should he use the offroad button.   Or will it just stay there? whichever button you press.

It will or should move off in any mode with haldex if one front wheel or 1 rear wheel is on a roller,

because you have drive at the other axle, and there should be at the other wheel oposite the one on the roller.

'Snow mode' or 'offroad' is not disabling the Haldex.

Driving in snow with AWD, Part Time AWD or 4x4 still requires traction between tyres and surface regardless of how much brakes being nipped is going on.

Much like all 4 wheels on rollers, there the vehicle will stay.

@Channel

What type of vehicles did you used to display to customers?

Display Vehicles  were Landcruiser 80 series with 3 difflocks/Fronteras/Old Discoveries/ the odd Range Rover, and Shogun. The Landcruiser was by far the best particularly in the off road world. Much of it depended on what they turned up in.

What is the main difference between snow mode and off road mode regarding the ability to drive on slippy surfaces? Or does Off road mode when selected include the benefits snow mode.

My Karoq is 2 wheel drive but my previous 4 x 4s (Freelander and Yeti) had drive options . Usually snow mode smooths out throttle response and will alter outbox settings if you have an automatic box - usually equivalent to staring off in 2nd gear to reduce torque effects. The modes will not really affect the basic 4 x4 functions
