Octavia estate water leaking on floor

Featured Replies

Hi

I have had this problem for sometime but have lived with it, the floor under the matts is very wet ,Its wet through to the rear footwell on the drivers side I have a water leak from somewhere but no idea where, I did check the bulkhead drains, they  where clear of muck. What other suggestions are there ? I am thinking of taking the carpet out to dry it out till I can find the leak ?

Strip it out to dry anyway.

Have the door cards on either driver side door been taken off for any reason?

New speakers/door lock modules/ window regulators etc?

If so, theres a good chance the plastic membrane hasnt been resealed properly and water is getting through from there.

If all is good there.. get some white chalk and liberally rub it on the entire perimeter of the door seals, close the doors and pour a couple of gallons of water over the door, all around the panel lines. Give a couple if minutes then check the chalk for any gaps where its been washed away.

Do you have a sunroof? The drains can block and cause leaks too

Thanks for the advice, today I found both sides are wet, I liked into the sunroof both sunroof drains where blocked which I have cleared out, I have a dehumidifier in the car trying to dry it out, there is a lot to get out !

Iirc there are 4 sunroof drains... worth checking them all!

Verified from part catalog, there are four hoses, one in each corner and if even one is clogged, probably the rest are too.

That explains wet carpets, sunroofs aren't water tight by design, they *have to have* working drain hoses. Otherwise flood to floor in heavy rain.

Stuff quality absorbent anhydrous cat litter (Catsan) into some old socks and place in the car and along the dashboard. It works! This tip is especially good for those drivers with a long term damp problem and a steamed up interior every morning.  This is first aid, but you need to find that fault or it will kill the electrics especially the blessed CCU.
