Axle stand locations

Featured Replies

I've read a few other posts on here regarding using the jack stand adaptors and their pro and cons, plus the various locations for using axle stands. I'm still however, a bit puzzled.

If I explain what I'm looking to do, you'll understand....... What I'm aiming to do (probably the end of the week) is to winter prep my car; a thorough wash, clay, polish and wax on the bodywork, a wash and wax on the wheels and finally coat the glass in something hydrophobic. As I'm wanting to clean the wheels and make sure the wheel wells are clean and tidy, throwing the car on axle stands (which I've got) seems the best way to do it. Cleaning the wheel wells out and getting the wheels squeaky clean may seem a bit OCD, but I've not done a big clean on my car yet and I'm wanting to keep the car looking tip top for as long as humanly possible.

What I was thinking of doing was using pinch weld adaptors (the rubber puck thingymajigs) and using the axle stands there. Jack the car up using the normal jack one side of the pinch weld marker and put the axle stand on the other side of the marker. Reckon that would be safe / ok/ stupid?

Opinions please
