2016 TSI/SEL Hatch rear wash question

Featured Replies

Befor i start taking trims/panels off, can anyone tell me where the water is supposed to exit please ? would it be in the rear wiper ? Just bought from dealers, but thought i could check for myself why no water. Can hear pump and fronts OK ! TIA

On my 245 when you wash the rear screen the water sprays the whole length of the rear wiper from the area where the wiper fits onto the spindle ( 2 holes ) then the wiper starts to wipe the rear screen.

Thanks for your reply. have had a quick look and found the spray nozels, removed this and there is no water coming from the supply hole ! can hear a pump run from front ! I guess this will be a little more involved. Think i will contact the dealer with this. 👍

On mine the tube had come away from the nozzle head so whenever I sprayed the water was just going down the inside of the trim and was pooling in the spare tyre well. You'd be best to check if that's the same for you, rusty tyre beware.

I asked a similar question the other day and and was helped out on here, removed, cleaned and re-installed and working perfectly now.

Forgot to say, I didn't have a needle thin enough to clean all the way through so I cleaned mine out once removed by using a blow off nozzle to blow the gunge out and a bit of 1.6mm mig welder wire. However, I've read somewhere on here about someone stripping a sandwich bag tie down for the very fine wire and using that to rod it out. Also, maybe soaking it in some kind of cleaning agent might break the dirt down.

Thanks, but no water reaching nozels. Possibly be a blown off hose ! the dealers have said it is a warranty job. We will see 😏

If a pipe has blown off it might be an idea to get it wire tied into the plastic connector it pushes on too.  Might stop the problem happening again.
