Dash coming out!!!

Featured Replies

Took my car in yesterday for the creak to be investigated (recurring problem). They wanted it for an extra day to "get to the bottom of it". Now they say the dash has to come out and it will be tomorrow!!

Take the dash out?

Doesn't that run the risk of causing yet more squeaks and rattles????

Not much else they can do I suppose but you may be on a slippery slope now my friend!

I am tempted to remove my dash to cure any creaks and rattles, don't worry about it mate.

get yourself a tt dash;)

Getting the car back @4.00. They have isolated the creak to a bolt in the centre spa that the dash attaches to. I just hope that taking the dash off has not 'opened a can of worms'

That will be the one you can get to by taking the centre vent out then..lol

They say they've taken the whole dash off!!

What????

Sorry for not being clear, what i mean to say is i get rattles sometime in my Furby, these often happen on cold mornings and stuff. I don't really want to take it into the dealer in case they mess something else up!

Then i got a bit carried away with my mantras for life!

Hope this has cleared it up for you and good luck with your car.:)

Job Card said this:

Road Test for Creak. Remove Dash Board and Re Test,

Still Creaks. Remove Cross Bar and Test

Found Wiring Block incorrectly fitted and Creaking

Re Position block. Re Fit Dash and support and Test

3Days That took

Its fixed anyway now. It needs a good clean as well now. Dont dealers wash your car these days?? Even Renault garages do that!!!

We wash service cars and then repair cars if there is time.

I thought there might be a 'pecking' order

Simple case of limited time.

We wash service cars and then repair cars if there is time.

:P

:P

Just re read that and realised how that reads..lol

What I meant was service cars get washed first, the cars in for general repairs get washed after.

Only if its really quiet do I wash a customer car, it has happened however.

What happens if you wash a customer's car wihtout specifically gaining his /her consent first and they then accuse you of causing a scratch etc??? Do you get people who are angered by you automatically washing their cars???

They wanted it for an extra day to "get to the bottom of it".

Hey Robbo51 are you sure it wasn't you who wanted them to "get to the bottom of it"?

BTW apologies for the 'fudgepacker' comment in the earlier Dragon 4x4 thread - I hadn't noticed the 'Bumber' typo in my thread or your reply and wondered what I'd done to deserve that!

Hope the hillwalking and 'gardening' are going well?!

On topic I had a vw dealer remove dashboard for a similar creak in my old polo 1.6glx and they took a chunk out of it putting it back and didnt solve the problem! Got a new dash out of them. But if they solved your noise then you've done ok don't worry about it. Just looked at the time f..f..f... flippin heck - woke up worried that someones going to beat me to Walkies motor!.......zzzzz

Thankyou for asking. I'm running 120 miles a week at the moment to get fit for a crack at Makalu (27,567) in the Himalayas in September and then Everest in April/May 2007. Ben Nevis next week, running up. My time to beat is 1 hour 45 mins. Most people walk it in 4 hours.

As for the gardening. With 3 Acres to deal with, its hard going. I'm not really fit enough to cut the lawn yet as the sit down mower is broken. I,ve sent the head gardener out to the lawnmower shop for spares.

Ps. The dash is fine now. Very good job done!!
