78.7 kWh battery for 230 miles EPA rating.

Meanwhile Tesla Model 3 is 55 kWh battery for 250 miles. It's likely Model Y (which is what Ford was aiming for) could achieve similar EPA range as the Mach E using Tesla's smaller 55 kWh battery.

Great to have more manufacturers join the EV party. But man they are behind, both in efficiency and in user en-route charging experience. (We only have three 150kW charging locations across the whole of UK, for non-Tesla's)

Ford have been playing about with EV's and producing some before TESLA did.

The Global company just needs to get a shift on.

Transits drive the world.   Or did.

More Estate cars, Light Commercial EV's are needed.

Fast Charging points at all Ford Main Dealerships would be 'simply clever'.

Maybe to much time and money has been spent on Hybrids development and not full EV's.

They just need to get the cars out at dealers at the right price and people might well lease them.

Stop wasting time and advertising with the likes of the Mustang Mach E and get the bread and butter cars / vans on the roads.

I think that can be said of all the mainstream car manufacturers.

What is bread and butter for mainstream car manufacturers? Majority of parts are from OEM, only the internal combustion engine they make themselves. It's understandable that they want to stretch out age of ICE as long as possible by only making hybrids. In another words, they have no motivation beyond meeting legislation.

But to move beyond smog filled cities, we need true zero tailpipe emission vehicles.

A co-worker of mine, he drives a new PHEV he bought in the summer. He was telling me how good it is and how he can do his commute all on electricity. But last few weeks, he said he's very disappointed with his PHEV. When heat is demanded from climate control, the engine fires up. When max power is demanded when in EV mode, the engine fires up.

It's almost as though the manufacturer is waggling their finger: "ah ah ah, ICE is the power source you want" (think Jurassic park)

The thing is Ford can not turn out in numbers a £20,000-£35,000 EV and it be profitable.

So on they go with the £40,000 plus 'Sporty EV', getting publicity / forum / media space.

They need to try harder and turn out the EV's that Local Authorities / NHS / Emergency Services / Fleet Buyers want to lease.

A Focus Estate sized vehicle or Mondeo Estate size would make more sense, but then they are a Global Corporation, they know more than me.
