20K Service.

Featured Replies

I know there must be threads out there about this sort of thing, but i thought i'd start my own!!! :P

I've just phoned up to book my car in for its 20K service and was quoted a price of £212. Is this a good price for a 20K service on a Fabia vRS or should i ring round some of the other Skoda dealers?

That is around the mark that I paid for my Octavia a few years ago so yes it seems about right, and most Skoda/VW garages use a book price for servicing anyway afaik so won't get much difference

Assuming it includes your annual inspection, it's a bit on the steep side but not the worst quote ever... Get the garage to itemise their quote if you can, and then check your service schedule and manual to make sure you actually need everything you've been quoted for.

Will be getting mine done at Jabbasport.

£212 is high for a 20,000 service but nearer the mark for a 24 month service.

What's the difference? The brake fluid is changed at 24 months.

You might not need that - I didn't - my car had its 20,000 mile service at about 16 months so I specifically told them not to include the brake fluid change which could wait till the 30,000 mile service.

I paid £185 (from memory). A friend's 17 month old car was serviced the same day and they did the brake fluid change without asking him - and charged him £225.

I had my 20k done by APS in Brackley and they charged me £80+ VAT which worked out to just under £102 all in. This was for normal 20k service, oil + filter and pollen filter change. They said I don't need the brake fluid change till like said 24 months.

My Octy vRS just had its 18000 mile service at Star Performance.

2 year/20,000mile service was £190 inc VAT from Skoda

Well, dropped my car off for the service today and i've been given a lovely 52 plate, 1.4, Skoda Fabia Saloon for a courtesy car. How i missed that turbo on my way to work!!! :(

I wouldn't mind but they had a line up of 55 and 06 plate cars all sat there, then they give me quite possibly the oldest and crapest car they've got. :thumbdwn:

Now that i've got the grandad mobile, i think i'm going to go buy a flat cap and pipe!!!:rofl:

Was that "all electric"?

I got a furby 1.4 sport last time which was pretty bad.

The 1.2 12v ibiza I'd had before was much better to drive

No, Savilles garage near Kidderminster. I took my car to All Electric in Halesowen last year and i swear they didn't do anything, apart from wash it, so refusing to take it back there.

Thats a bit worrying about Halesowen, I was going to take mine there! Does anyone else have any feedback about this garage in particular?!

I've used them for 6 out of 7 of my services and they haven't been too bad but equally , not brilliant.

I've caught them out charging for screenwash that wasn't used , they messed me around when I was trying to get a replacement key , and the best one was them changing the cam belt when I hadn't asked and it wasn't needed.

I got it sorted out and a full refund by speaking to head office , and the offending member of staff was fired partly as a result of my complaint but that shouldn't have been necessary in the first place. http://www.briskoda.net/forums/general-car-chat/all-electric-garages-do-right-thing/35632/

Since then they have been better , and I've not had any problems with the quality of the actual work they did.

Whilst i've had that problem with the garage in Halesowen, someone i used to work with always took their car there and never really had a problem with them, so it may have been a one off but i'm still going to stick with Savilles as i think they're better. Can't judge them 100% though until i pick my car up and i've just had the call to say she's ready. Was told that a seal was missing from when the oil filter must have been changed at All Electric and so i've been having an oil leak since then!!! Shows All Electric did do something then, they gave me an oil leak!!! :thumbdwn:

Sounds about right.

I mainly use A-E because they are less out of the way as I go to work.

Mine's out of warranty now so I might try the VAG specialist garage that advertises in the Stourbridge news for the 80k service

Phoned two garages last week for the 2 year service cost with brake fluid change on a Fabia vRS. Both quotes were around the

I brought my car from All Electric Halesowen and to be fair Sales guy was very good. For my 10K service they wanted £160 so I went to Autosales in Bilston who charged me £90. It pays to shop around. My uncle has just brought an Octy Estate and he is having his serviced by a VAG specialist in gornal http://www.vwrescue.co.uk/ gonna give them a try for my 20K service. Uncle was very impressed when he popped in for a look around.

Yep , that one in Gornal is probably going to get my money next time
