Brilliant Silver Chip/Dent Repair Worth It ? Blending Difficult ? Easy to Tell ?

Featured Replies

Hi All

There is some damage on my Skoda under the passenger door handle and to the right of it on the edge, where the door has either gone into something on opening or something went into it another door etc not sure.  See link below;

I was looking in getting it repaired but couple of friends told me it isn't worth it, silver isn't the easiest colour. Actual name Brilliant Silver, very shiny silver.

They think the colour match may be difficult and the smart repairer won't obviously do both full doors to blend it in but mark out a square area covering the issue maybe crossing over to the other door and blend it in.

I just wanted to know if anyone would be experienced enough to know, if this will be a case of you will be able to tell that some work had been done on a sunny day and a larger area would look odd... and ultimately I would have been better off leaving it ?

I was also looking at getting some stone chips done as below, again same questions please.

The days of needing to blend the paint across large expanses or onto adjacent panels are less common.

Bodyshops as well as mobile smart repairers now have the methods and equipment to check the paint condition and mix it to match exactly, taking into consideration fading etc.

I can't see why silver would be any more difficult to match, there are lots of light metallic and pearlescent paints out there now.

I would ask for a quote from a local well respected smart repairer or bodyshop, you might be surprised at the price?

@Roottootemoot will likely know more, I'm sure he has paintshop experience.

You want to be asking Chips Away type people rather than your friends and see what they say.
