What upgraded air filters are you folks using in your 2.0 TDi's and TSi's?

Any links to good suppliers would be great, thanks!

Ive fitted a darkside developments mk7 golf tdi intake to my sportline 190 cr and it fits well and gives a good intake note, no noticable increase in performance but poss made the throttle responxe a little better.

I’ve always fitted K&N (or similar) filters to all of my cars, not for any performance advantage they may/may not give, but for the fact they can be cleaned and reused time and time again.

For the price of a standard air filter that lasts for up to 4 years, is it really worth changing to something that might not filter as good as a genuine one? 

And oiled filters are well known for causing MAF sensor issues.

TBH, the price of the Mann/OEM filters is only £8 and a 5 min job so why not replace it every year?  

 

With filters there's always some level of trade off between filtration and airflow. In order to let more air through, other things can get through too.  If you overly restrict debris filtration then airflow will suffer too.   It's hard to sift through all the rubbish online, especially when you read the small print and see that the testers/posters were provided a free filter by one of the companies in the test.  One thing that I really do buy in to though; a clean, regularly changed OEM filter will likely be just as good as a £50 polyfoamaniumtrate filter by K&Pipercross.  (but if I was going to throw my money at one then it would be BMC that would get my cash)

 

You also have to remember that performance gains on a stock car would be so negligible that it would be undetectable.  Most people that spend the money on a filter would likely bork at spending a few quid more on higher octane fuel, which would lead to much greater gains (in the EA888's)

I put a Pipercross in mine for the increased induction noise (I always use an aftermarket filter on my cars).........but in this case, with this car, I didn't like the sound it created........so I took it out.

My advice would be don't use oiled filters like K&N. In my experience they cause problems and not worth it.
