Fuel consumption.

Put it towards the fill up that you should have done by now to put an end to the speculation.

'Err...except when they're conveniently close by and I am short on fuel.' So did you apologise/ retract your complaint and return the £5 spurious complaint voucher after your fuel jumped up to 200+ miles after you put the 16 or so litres in?

I wouldn't, I would cease brimming the car and only fill up a tenner at a time at Shell service stations to halve my fuel bill  😀

I dare say he will go back and use the voucher and fill with £5 of fuel and then rant again that "only air" was dispensed because his range indicator didn't budge. Demanding a full refund again with threats.

Then post about going to church and about how holy and forgiving he is.

On his "living with a 280 Superb" thread, watch out for record breaking fuel economy claims......

It gets even more weird not only did the 16.82 litres go much higher than I expected but after driving 40 miles since the £20 emergency fill at Sainsbury's I now have 200 miles range left (so actually enough fuel to cover 240 miles which only makes sense if I did get those missing 7 litres yesterday morning at Shell).:D

Thats may be the vag diesel  "scandal "

Nobody ever said you or anyone else would get that other than if driving under the Test Regime.

If you have recordings or anything in writing that in the real world you would be in a great position.

It is the old test regime scandal and the now current WLTP / RDE & RDE2 scandal that the EU countries authorities conspired with.

"thats my point "

Hi Taggs

You are having the same experience as me and it's okay for those who are happy with that but there are a number of people on the site that are getting exactly what the manufacturer was claiming - some are getting high 50s. I am as disappointed as you but now realise this engine is not one of VAGs best and can be very variable.

The strange thing is that when run through the computer by the dealership it  tests satisfactory but that is BS. I wish there was a way to get an independant report.

As I have reported before my neighbours new 2019 Audi 1.5 A3 was terrible - bad mpg, rough running, noisey and burnt oil so he took it back and they replaced it with a car of the same year with a few more miles on the clock but this one is completely night and day different, it's quiet, returns 50 mpg and doesn't burn oil so it proves that these engines are all over the place.

thank  you may keep car till 10000k

then make another post review

at moment the car has only 6 months old and 8500 miles

Motability are just ridiculous using the figures that they do, and using the word 'Average'.  To get an Average of 54.3 you would need to be getting into the 60-70 mpg figure often.

An average in the 40's is what a 2.0.TDI 150ps SCR DSG can easily do, but then that depends on people stuff carried and driving style, and weather.

Or in your case £1.16 for fresh air?

£1130 for diesel for 6 months and 8402 miles since new can this be right?

I think that response is typical of the ignorace many people show towards fuel economy. Doesn't anyone bother to read what's in front of them?

The information tag beside those Average mile figures says:

THESE FIGURES ARE FOR COMPARISON PURPOSES ONLY.  The text goes on to say:

THE ACTUAL MPG THE CAR ACHIEVES WILL DIFFER DEPENDING ON YOUR INDIVIDUAL DRIVING STYLE AND TRAVEL HABITS.

FIND OUT MORE ABOUT HOW MPG IS CALCULATED - https://www.motability.co.uk/products/cars/fuel-types/

That link gives as good a description as I've ever I've seen on any website as to how official mpg is calculated. It's provides information that I bet most people ( particularly the armchair expert ) never realised.

Anyone who questions the mpg of their car should first read that link before complaining. Not that it'll make any difference mind you, because they'll still think someone is able to provide a single mpg figure that holds true for a lonely widow in Southern Italy as it does for a 5 person family ( + their pet St. Bernhard ) in Northern Finland. A figure that will also be the same for a farmers wife who lives in rural Holland as it will be for a boy racer who lives in Sheffield.

Why ever happened to common sense?
