Door insulation strip

Featured Replies

I've always been rather envious of S-classes and the like with their fancy rubber door insulation strips. So off to AliExpress to find a suitable width and profile. I've seen a few people retrofit this and it often looks terrible, but very happy with how this turned out, quite OEM, with a perfect seal when closed, and not visible from the outside.

What other effect does it have besides that it fills the cap when door is closed?

I'd say it may help to keep noise out, there must be a reason you see these on high end cars, but not so much as you would notice.  The car is very quiet to start with, however every little helps.

Will also help to keep the car afloat if I ever drive into a lake.

My neighbours škoda octavia GenIII pre facelift, has those strips from factory - so it's not only for high end cars :D Just not for Superb.

Added strips to the rear doors and along the edges of the bonnet. My wife owns the same car as me and my one is much quieter as a result of all these tweaks. Some of them are of course more useful than others but they all add up.
