Rear wiper squirter misses the window

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, in the last couple of weeks I have been having an issue with the rear washer jet, in that instead of firing upwards onto the window, it goes out to the left. As far as I can tell, it doesn’t seem to be blocked, the pump doesn’t sound strained, and the cabin isn’t damp from a leak.

Any ideas of what I should be looking for or trying?

Thanks

You can adjust the jet with a needle or thin pointy screwdriver.

Ok thanks, I’ll give it a try.

For reference, the top image is how it looks on the T6 which works fine, compared to mine below it. 285E1ABF-FA8C-4822-B413-D0828DD5A9AA.thumb.jpeg.b201038aa91c777f1f4760037a3c5665.jpeg9949EE5E-C7BC-4613-9A9E-9E5694E24A2B.thumb.jpeg.5c90e1bfc4cc8e71f7d198dd7bdef83a.jpeg

Looks like it has turned somehow.....

I would remove wiper arm and see if you can rotate the shaft the jet is on, then opertate wiper without arm to ensure its parked properly, then refit wiper arm.

UPDATE: I managed to spin the black part around with pliers to the upright position, and that’s fine but it now fires over the car! Still, at least some of it trickles down onto the glass

Use a small pin to adjust the nozzle, they can be stiff so a little spray of wd40 first will assist then its trial and error

Ok cheers WD40 usually fixes all things

Hopefully the inner water tube has not started to break free from the base part it is bonded to, ie the water inlet.  If it moves again then I think that you can get a repair kit to replace the complete inner and outer tube, I needed to do that on a 2002 Polo, though initially I went with info for fixing the early Fabia which was to buy a Golf MK? repair kit - bad move the shafts are different lengths between Golf MK? and 9N Polo. Probably now a repair kit available for this version of Fabia if you end up needing it.

Hmm, thanks for letting me know. I was confused as to why it moved in the first place

Maybe there is some build up of lime etc in the nozzle. I find the nozzles in our shower-heads at home get crusted over time from hard water.

On the pictures in the opening posting, it did look like the nozzle or water tube had rotated a bit from its original position when compared with the same on a VW T6.

Hasn’t moved again yet, just needs a bit of finesse to get it to hit the glass😆
