Help please...A new noise from my engine..

Featured Replies

Morning everyone,

complete newbie here just wondering if I could ask for people’s opinions on a new noise that happened for the first time to my car this morning. Just started it like I always normally do but it be never heard it make a noise like this before. Sounds maybe like a loose belt or bearing??

I took a video and put on YouTube which can be seen here

if people would be kind enough to have a look and see if they recognise what it might be I’d be very grateful. If it helps it’s an 18 plate, petrol 1.5 Kodiaq 4x4 edition

Thanks everyone.

Welcome.

Sorry no idea.

Not good to hear.

I would call Skoda Assist and not be driving it, if nothing let the responder say that, if something serious or to worry about they can arrange uplift and a courtesy car dropped off.

I assumed it was a cold diesel when I started playing the video, then noticed you say its the 1.5 petrol. It certainly doesn't sound right, but that maybe where the microphone is. I would get a garage/RAC/AA/Skoda assist to look at it as advised above....

Thanks for the advice guys. I had forgotten all about Skoda assistance!. I have phoned them and should be with me by 09:30! Fingers crossed it gets resolved. Thank you for taking the time to have a look and respond! Really appreciate that!

Is/was the knocking noise in time with the rotation of the auxiliary belt?

look at the white flashes in the video.

Thanks AG Falco

Early 2018?

I doubt it's a 1.5 TSI, more likely the 1.4 TSI?

I have the same engine and model year.

If my 1.4 TSI sounded like that I'd be turning the engine off very quickly and calling Skoda Assist.

That should not be driven.

@Alistair1982 please let us know how you got on.
