Radio mute

Featured Replies

My radio has stopped muting when I go into reverse [used to do it I assume so you could hear parking sensor better]. Anyone else had this?

I noticed too that the reverse function had changed, the parking assistant doesn't automatically go off when coming out of reverse gear either, I turn off the display by pressing the sensor button. Assumed this was because I had fronts sensors this time round

MIne doesn't and has never muted, however the volume does reduce when I go into reverse.

That's what I meant - sorry - not a total mute, just about half as loud. Stays the same volume now when I reverse. Something busted???

Have you checked the volume settings?

Has your car been into a dealer recently.

There's a setting to adjust the volume, during reversing ,in the Stream headunit settings, would be worth checking that this hasn't been changed/disabled by accident.

I've had this the odd time with my car too. Seems to be a glitch with the radio. I just turn off the ignition, lock then unlock the car then try again. Doesnt happen very often tbh.

Didn't know that - I'll read up on it tomorrow - thanks all.

Adjustment successfully made. It would be helpful if the Stream book mentioned that you have to put the car in reverse [though not necessarily moving!!!] so that the parking sensor display is on the radio screen. THEN you press the radio preset button, then turn down the volume to whatever you want it.

It just says press button 12 [preset station] and adjust volume - but of course nothing happens except the normal radio volume changes without affecting the "reversing" situation.

Other than that, no problem.

You dont have to put the car into reverse to adjust the radio volume setting for reversing or press a preset button either. You just go into the audio menu and scroll to PDC VOL. Then set the volume to the level you want.

That's interesting - I didn't see Audio menu mentioned in the book - how do I find that?

Press and hold TA usually - not sure about the Stream though - ymmv.

On the stream radio press the button that gets you into the bass/treble settings etc. One of the buttons in the menu then has an right hand arrow. select this to move further on in the menu until you see PDC VOL.

Anyone know how to achieve this with the MFD2 Nav unit ?

Used to have it on the Stream until i replaced it (today) with a MFD2

another VAG Com change ?

This sounds a very interesting feature. Is it only available on Octavia's?

I think its a Stream/Audience only setting.

IIRC when i test drove my car the radio worked - but the display did not change not did the PDC chnage the volume.

I aksed the sales man - he said no it won't as the car has not been setup and would be done as part of the PDI.

This caught me out until I worked out the car was a tad more intelliegnt than I.

If the PDC volume is set at 10, the radio automatically reduces the stereo volume TO ten if it has been higher than that, then puts it back to what it was when you take it out of reverse.

If the stereo volume is below the PDC volume level, it does not change, as that would mean making the stereo louder.

Does this also work in cars that don't have parking sensors?

Do you mean reducing the volume of the stereo when engaging reverse ?

Sorry, I wasn't that precise.. But that's what I meant:

Does reducing the volume while reversing also work in cars that don't have parking sensors?

I am not sure this is possible without the PDC being enabled. perhaps it can be done with VAG-COM.
