Featured Replies

I live in York, and have a Skoda Fabia. I know nothing about cars and engines etc so have joined to gain your expertise advice...:)

I am having problems with the car and dont know what to do...

I was thinking about buying one of these gadgets to plug into the engine, (from ebay). WIll read up on here and find out more about them!

Hi Mate

They are called VAG COM cables.

There are many people on here that have them already and will possibly plug it in for you.

You do have to do a bit of research in to the vag com cable as it will throw up fault codes and then you need to know what to do after that.

But I am sure you will learn all this on this friendly forum.

If you dont find what you want give us a shout and we will see if we can help.

What model Fabia do you have.

Welcome aboard

Hi Awsome!

Its a Fabia 1.4 16V comfort. on a YJ51. Can these things just switch the damn thing (error light) off altogether, over-ride it so to speak, or will it just keep coming back on?

Thanks again

Janet

If you want people to help you, you will have to be more specific;

which light is on (check in manual for description)?

Is the car running ok?

what milage has it done?

In terms of vag com it plugs into your car and reports any error codes that have been logged. From these you can deduce the likley causes. The light can be reset via vag com however if the fault is still there it will just come back.

hope this helps

Hi Janet

Sorry the answer is no.

But it comes on for a reason and we have to determin the reason.

So I would say if you give out a little bit of info on here some nice person will come along and help.

They are very good on here.

the light on is the Electronic engine management one. The car is running fine, and the mileage is 34,500 (its a YJ 51). Its been on and off (the light) for several months. Went off for a while, then came back again argggg.

I am grateful for the replies, thanks again, Janet

Hi,

Try to stick to asking questions in one place, asking in several different sections just ads confusion and people end up repeating themselves.
