Feels like running om gravel ?

Featured Replies

Hello,

Its regarding a 2014 Superb 2.0 tdi 140 DSG.

From 70 to 85 km/t, it feels like im running on a thin layer of gravel. There i a lot of tiny "bumps" in the ride. The hole car is shaking /up/down.

It doest matter which gear, so i have ruled out DTMF. It also happends when going fast around 130-140 km/h. Were i would suspect such a car to be vary stable and comfortable, it has these really fast up/down movement of the car. It does not make a difference which gear, its the velocity that sets it off.

I have no shaking in the steering wheel at all, But i do have some rolling of the car when turning, so i suspect bad shock absorbers. I have had the shock absorbers measured out, and the one on the left side says 70%, right side 60% of new performance.

Im thinking shock absorbers or driveshafts - anything else ?

Is it possible to determine driveshafts whithout replacing them ?

Uneven tyre wear?

Sawtoothing rear tyres?

Incorrect tyre pressures?

Alloy wheel damage?

Sorry I should have said, that i have now tried 3 different set of tires. All the same.

But last summer i was on a read with new surface, and that seemed really smooth, also at 75 km/h.

My own theory is bad shocks, but there was also one that mentioned the triangle were the wheels are resting. (Dont know what it is called)

Could it also be the ball joint, and if yes, is it possible to determine when the car is on a lift ?
