Turns out it isn't normal. vRS owners in the UK are getting their electric water pumps replaced under warranty.

I'm not sure, there have been a couple of cases where owners have taken their vRS's in to be checked due to the noise and Skoda have authorised the replacement of the pump without hesitation.

False alarm, the pump was replaced, but the noise remains.

spoke to an independent VAG specialist, his diagnosis was " faulty motor in the number 2 coolant pump " . dealer disregards video evidence. i'll have to pay repeat visits until i'm able to reproduce the noise in person. anyone have new findings to report ?

My vrs does this same noise, when I turn the engine off, only lasts a minute or 2, so do we think there is a fault or is this normal

My VRS does exactly the same too, so did my Golf R and so did the Passat with the 206 motor. I think sounds like something hot cooling down i.e. radiator fluid, turbo etc. As Zac said in the other post, makes a mechanical whirring sound after about a minute and then all noises stop.
A bit like the universal priming whine when you open a door before starting VAG cars.
