Good morning all,

Hopefully one of you lovely people might have some experience with this fault and be able to lend a hand....

Twice now half hour into an hours journey the car has started to run lumpy and then the engine would cut out, it would restart instantly and the journey continued fault free.

On the first occasion a vag com scan came up with the below fault...

I have done a bit of diagnosis this morning.... the fuel pump does not prime when the drivers door is opened as it should, but does when the ignition is switched on. (Interior light does come on with door opening so I'm discounting the door switch?)

I must say though that the pump would be audibly heard to prime when the drivers door opened previously and the priming of the pump when the ignition is switched on now is no where near as loud as that but I have no idea whether it should be that loud.

The pump is running when the engine is running very quietly but as I said before... I have no idea how loud it should be.

Any help is much appreciated

Thanks

Dan

To me the in tank lift pump is the place to start.

There is the changed behaviour and the short circuit code indicates it could have seized.  Of course check wiring and connections to it b4 replacing.

Thanks, that was my thoughts also.... funnily enough it has been absolutely fine today and seems to be priming with the door opening as it should.

Im sure the priming was audible from the drivers door though, maybe the pump is getting tired, has done 185,000 miles now!
