Dull Halogen DRLs

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if the halogen (H8) DRL's can be made brighter with OBD Eleven? I have searched Briskoda and the OBDEleven forums with no result.

Thanks

AFAIK the default setting for them is 100% so I would say they are already as bright as they will go.

Halogen DRLs use the main beams, no? At a reduced intensity though.

If I’m correct, then yeah you should be able to make them brighter.

You could fit a couple of these daylight white LED lamps          https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-Top-H11-H8-66-SMD-LED-White-Light-Bulbs-Decoder-Error-Free-Canbus-Accessories/283691710182?hash=item420d57f6e6:g:s4cAAOSwl-tdjGqQ

or similar.

Loads on eBay or Amazon.

There are brighter ones available if that is what you want.

You can't as that would be illegal as well as potentially invalidating your insurance.

No, Halogen DRLs use a separate filament in an H15 bulb, not an H8 bulb.

The main beam filament is 55W but the DRL filament is only 15W.

Sorry yes H15 Bulbs not H8. I was just interested if it was possible to increase the brightness with OBDEleven. I don't want to go down the white LED route.

You can get H15 bulbs with a higher colour temperature which will look whiter?

That depends if they are E marked for Road use - why not ask the companies selling them?
