5 volt port to charge Samsung SM-T590 tablet.

Featured Replies

It occurred to me that it would be good to be able to charge the battery in my Samsung SM-T590 tablet  whilst I am in my

2016 Octavia Scout.   I am aware the car has 12 volt sockets but I do not know whether it has a 5 Volt outlet suitable for

directly charging the tablet.    Can anyone kindly advise me if there is an option to do this or do I need to buy a 12 Volt to

5 volt adapter.         Thank you.

You will just need a standard USB adapter for the 12v socket.

Something like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Anker-Charger-PowerDrive-Adapter-iPhone-Black/dp/B07PGT7LSR/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=car+usb&qid=1577019885&smid=A2PGPJL0BBLHLX&sr=8-5

Pops into the 12v socket no problem.

I have one of these. It has a low profile and works perfectly.

Yeah got a similar one, it charges a Samsung Galaxy Tab 5e, it will be rather slow due the size of the tablet battery.

My 65 plate octavia has a chargin socket under the satnav. I think its for Android Auto, but it charges devices fine...

Same tablet as I use at work. If you want it to fast charge, get a decent brand cigarette socket adapter with a good output current and, just as importantly, a good brand cable that's up to doing a decent current. Unless it's going flat and it's looking like a desperate situation, I normally just use a low output adapter so it trickles in, which I tend to think is kinder to the tablet battery.
