Hi all and a merry christmas

am thinking of upgrading to a newer car this new year and am curious on which skoda has the DSG box in and what would people recommend for a new taxi any advice would be appreciated thanks.

graeme

2.0 TSI or TDI's will have a wet clutch DSG that you will need to service every 40,000 miles or less.

250Nm max / 150 ps. so 1.0, 1.2, 1.4 or 1.5 TSI or 1.6 TDI's will have a DQ200 DSG's, 7 speed twin dry clutch. No Servicing.

Thanks for the reply

a take it these are all petrol 1,0   1.2   1.4 or 1.5 TSI  with the DSG box in

Yes, the two diesel engines are 1.6 or 2.0.

This is the MkII forum (2004 > 2013).

There is a MkIII forum (2013 > 2020).

And now a MkIV forum (available early next year).

What's your budget i.e. which version of the Octavia do you have in mind?

That's what am trying to work out whats the best for my work.

Superb or Octavia.

As for budget well that could be  anything really as car has to be under 4 years old.

Thanks

So a not yet on sale Octavia 4, or else an Octavia 3 or Superb 3 I think. As for which shell, well either is possible since drivers in West Dunbartonshire use both...

Whats the petrol version like ?

as they are trying to phase diesel out are they reliable thanks .

Probably better off with a wet clutch dsg for taxi as they are more reliable compared to the 7 speed dry box.

This might sound silly but how do a know the difference between the two boxes.

6 speed boxes in the mk2 were dq250 which is wet clutch. The 7 speed boxes are dq200 dry clutch.

Having owned a MkII vRS, a MkII Scout, a MkIII Scout and a MkII Superb, if I was a taxi driver then they'd all fit the bill in terms of passenger space, comfort and boot space.

However, it isn't just about your paying passengers, if I was spending 8 hours a day in the car then it would have to be the Superb.

As good as the Octavia is, the Superb is another couple of steps up. Refinement, comfort, sound insulation and features.

Much like the Octavia the Superb's trump card is rear passenger legroom. Completely unrivalled, even from cars in the class above.

Add to this Skoda's tradition of cavernous boots and your shortlist is good.

Mechanically they share quite a lot so from a reliability perspective there isn't much in it, both are very good.

The great thing is with the Superb is the car is long, that's how they achieve the interior space, but they aren't wide, again perfect for a raxi role.

Either car will suit, but as mentioned if it were to be my office it would have to be the Superb, a Laurin & Klement (L&K) too.

MkIII Superb SE L and L&K's are not big money if you're looking for ones under 4 years old.

Good luck.

so if am looking for a L&K 6 speed wet clutch superb any recommendations on were a should be looking and an average price a should be looking for.

cheers graeme.

Autotrader and eBay Motors are usually a good place to start.

You didn't really confirm your budget, only that it has to be under 4 years old. Does it always have to be less than 4 years old, or only at the point you buy it?

You'll need to whittle it down a little more than that or give us some more detail. Being a taxi does mileage matter?

Well above average mileage, but priced accordingly...

Money no object?

So as you can see we're talking £13,000 to £35,000 with an awful lot in between.

Thanks for the reply.

As budget goes that's what am trying to work out as u kindly stated anything between 13 and 35 thousand.

For mileage anything under 80 thousand would be good it only has to be under 4years old when purchased thanks.
