Location of TCU/TCM plug

Featured Replies

Hi all, hopefully someone can help me locate the plug for the TCU/TCM (same thing??) DSG on a 2005 Octavia.  Having searched online, I thought I would find it behind the wheel arch liner on the left side, but nothing there.  The reason I need to know, car has had a proper hissy fit, I think because of the GF going through some rather deep water, and there is a damp connection somewhere.  Throwing up a load of faults on VCDS, including:

18034 - Powertrain Data Bus
            P1626 - 000 - Missing Message from TCU

01315 - Transmission Control Module
            004 - No Signal/Communication

0002 - Transmission Control Unit
            004 - No Signal/Communication

Car started jumping into neutral whilst driving, now won't come out of Park, won't turn over engine, and lots of random warning lights.

Anyway, if someone can tell me where the plug connections are for the gearbox ECU, that would be great!

Thanks.

Not a Skoda, but instead an Audi, but these modules aren't usually far away across the various VAG platforms.

This post mentions "under the carpet"...

I then found this from the Superb MkI forum, it is under the passenger side carpet...

A similar issue here, but no information in terms of its location...

If it needs repairing these guys get good reviews...

Most of the failures seem to be water related though, how deep was the water your girlfriend drove through, enough to enter the cabin!?

Hi Silver,

thanks for the links. I had stumbled across the Superb one, but no sign of it under the passenger footwell carpet. Thinking maybe drivers side, but really surprised I can’t find a definite answer by searching the webternet. Not sure how much more of the car I can take apart with out going mad!

I thought the same, you'd think there would be loads of online content around the Octavia's TCU!

I was making the water connection, therefore assuming it is low down somewhere...

Update, and some more advice needed.....

Found the plug, it actually sits on the front of the gearbox, and the TCU is inside the gearbox.  When I disconnected it, found lots of oily water in the plug.  Dried it out thoroughly, but still no joy. No communication between ECU and gearbox.  Left a fan heater on it overnight to make sure it was totally dried out, and found the plug was full of what looks like oil!  Where the heck could this be coming from??  A bust seal in the gearbox maybe??  Anyone any ideas?  Thanks.
