Heko wind deflectors fitted today

Featured Replies

Got Heko wind deflectors for Christmas. Fitted them today and very pleased with the look.

Probably been covered already, but thought I'd also share a couple of tips for anyone fitting them -

Unlike previous Climair sets I've had which just held in place with friction, these Heko ones have little sticky pads, and some metal clips. For the metal clips, the Skoda ice scraper from the fuel filler cap is ideal to push them into place.

Once they're fitted the windows think something is in the way and won't auto raise all the way. They have to be reset so they learn the new stopping point. Just raise the window all the way by holding the button, then when the window is at the top release the button, then press and hold the button again for 3 seconds. No idea why but it took a few goes before it would work for me.

I've got them on my car and they are good. I didn't have the front ones clipped in properly and they could move, meaning they were noisy as hell. Moving them meant there was less flex and then less noise.

The sticky pads aren't worth a hoot on a rag man's trumpet. After a week, they'd acquired dirt and you could see the pad. I've took the rears off, white spirited the sticky pads off and refitted. There's no danger in them coming off as there are still clips anyway.

When you say you didn't have them clipped in properly - how? Wondering if I've done mine wrong as I haven't been for a drive yet.

I had the clip in the wrong way round. There's a smooth side and a side with a barb. I forget now which is the right way, but I had it the wrong way round.

I also put two of the clips for the front one on the side leading into the wind and then another in the middle on the top edge.

Was thinking of getting some of these.

Are these preferable over other brands then?

Everybody seemed to have these ones and they're readily available on the likes of ebay

Always had Climair in the past on Fords. I can't complain about them, they looked good and did the job. But these Heko ones are just the same except slightly cheaper and easier to get hold of so they get my vote!

Are they noticeably good at actually deflecting the wind with the windows open?

mine are noisy and i took them off

I think they are, but I didn't put them on for that reason. I just like the look of them. I've also found they give me that bit of sun cover on my right side on my journey into work. An added, unexpected bonus

I found them to be initially, but after fiddling around with the clips, the noise went.

Isn't the entire point of them to allow you to open the windows without buffetting and noise?

Also quite good at stopping drips of rain coming into the car when you get to toll booths like Eurotunnel.

I find them a mixed bag, sometimes I think that they are great, other times that they make the car noisier.
