Oil sensor location

Recommended Posts

Two years of trouble free motoring and now two posts in two days.

Anyway, jumped in the car this morning and got about 100 metres before the dash lit up like a Christmas tree showing oil sensor fault, check engine light, diesel pre-heater fault, ACC fault and start stop fault and it went into limp mode.

I called out Skoda Assist and, after muttering about a turbo fault, he found a damaged rubber pipe that he reckoned had been chewed by an animal.

That cleared everything apart from the oil sensor fault so I'm assuming that the wiring for the sensor may have been damaged too as the oil level is fine.

Any idea where I need to look to find the sensor and it's wiring?

AFAIK, it’s close to the scavenge screw in lower part, under the engine. I think it’s a dual sensor for both oil level and oil temperature. You just need to remove the acoustic panel beneath the engine.
Note: This is based on my TDI engines experience, but I don’t see specific reason, this should be different on TSI engines.

On my 2016 tsi 280 it is on the bottom of the oil sump. There is some exposed wiring which I suppose could have been damaged, however I think it’s more likely that the ECU has recorded a “hard fault” which will only go away when the fault is cleared by VCDS or similar. But obviously worth a quick look underneath for any obvious damage.
