I recently upgraded from an iPhone 7 plus (which worked fine with my VRS) to an iPhone 11. I connect using the supplied apple lightning cable and now I am experiencing some odd behaviour. If I try and make a phone call using the voice control it now always reports the contact book is unavailable and if I am listening to the Radio and I make or receive a phone call, control is not handed back to the radio after the call ends and I am left in silence. Sometimes when I press the radio button it resumes and other times the only thing that restores sound is to reboot the head unit.

 

Has anyone else experienced similar issues and does anyone know of a fix? (don't say Android please ;-) )

I disagree as the version of IOS on my 7 plus was the same as that on the 11. Therefore it's hardware that's changed radically and NOT software

What Ken is alluding to is that some of the recent Apple software updates have required the phones and cars to be unpaired and repaired to resume normal functionality.

Well if he'd have said it in those words...….LOL

When I upgraded from the 7 Plus to the 11 Pro Max, I had to reconnect everything to the car and use a whole new lightening cable for the CarPlay before going wireless. Mine has been fine since. Reset everything to factory and try again, see how it goes.

This is why i dont use apple. Never had an issue connecting on android auto. Plus all Apple products are massivley overpriced for what they are and comparable too. Sadly Skoda has gone the same way of recent years and not quite the bargain manufacturer they used to be.

I did and commented that is why I dont bother with apple products. Too mainy connectivity issues whether in the car or at home. But android is the way to go👍

Android has plenty of issues too, especially when you get to some of the smaller providers.

Indeed I have both an Apple (my own phone) and Android (my work phone) and neither are perfect, however I definitely prefer one over the other :-)

Depends what you want.

 

There isn’t a direct Apple wallet (passbook) that is supported by vendors for Android. Yes there is pay, but that doesn’t currently do airline tickets etc.

 

wifi scanning is much better on android.
