Fuel pressure problem... PLEASE HELP

Featured Replies

Hi sorry I have really babbled on here and I am shocking with grammar but please help if you can.

Hi all new to briskoda and skodas also petrols 🤦‍♂️ so I have owned my mk2 fl tsi for a little over a month it was running great at first but just before Christmas as I was leaving work I put my foot down and an injector stuck open, I have since fixed this problem and swapped all 4 injectors while I had the car stripped down last friday, friday night & saturday the car was running absolutely mint like brand new then sunday me and my other half was sat outside KFC having our food with the engine running for about 15mintues and the car started spluttering and died and wouldnt restart for around 30mins and when I finally got it going again just running on idle with the bonnet up it smelt like it was running really rich with a little white smoke coming from the exhaust, and after about 5 minutes it died again and the same happened. The next time I got it going I decided to drive straight home to have a better look drove fine for a couple of minutes then all power died there was nothing at the pedal and it cut out again and ****ed fuel out of somewhere (seemed to be towards the back of the engine as it was dripping off the under tray) and i couldn't find the culprit anywhere so I have had it towed to a skoda specialist and hes in the same predicament cant see no traces of leaks and after a week he still cant get the car to start as there seems to be no fuel pressure and the only code coming up is p8007 if i remember rightly so I'm kind of leaning towards the hpfp would I be right in thinking this? Or does anyone have any experience with anything like this? Any help appreciated thanks!

The specialist has had it over a week and has no idea? Mmm. Not sure how experienced they sound. Or are they just not interested?

What have they ruled in or out.

If it's suspected fuel pressure have they tested the in tank pump and the hpfp?  A proper scan tool should allow an output test of the hpfp solenoid as that is usually the failure. But non starting is quite rare for the hpfp fault.

Did you replace the injectors yourself. Were new injector seals used. Were there any difficulties?

I think the problem is he works on his own and has got alot of work on also so hes having an hour here and an hour there.

From what he has said is that there is fuel getting upto the engine but nothing from there and I'm not 100% sure if he has checked the solenoid or not as I've said he works on his own so hes hard to get in touch with at times... tbh think I may need to take it somewhere else.

And yes I replaced the injectors my self and every part I took off was replaced with a brand new part just to be sure and nope there were no difficulties at all 30mins to strip and about the same to put it all back together 🤷‍♂️

Ok.  when he says fuel getting up to engine, he means inlet to HPFP or the fuel rail shows adequate pressure?

I've not replaced injectors or the intake manifold myself but I thought it would be a bit longer than that, maybe 2 or 3 hours all up.  Did you look at the carbon buildup in the intake ports and valves with the IM off? Common problem, often requires cleaning up.

I agree, if your current specialist doesn't have time or doesn't know where to go next, you probably need to move on....

Yes it's getting upto the hpfp just not much after that.

And I thought it would be mate but it's literally a few plugs to disconnect take pipe off the throttle body, take the oil filter off undo 6/7 bolts and pull it off mate.

I spoke to him last night and hes said hes going to have the full day onit today so I'll see what he comes back with today and then decide where togo from there

Ok. Well. To me that sounds like a hpfp problem or blockage. If so he should be able to identify it. Let us know how he gets on.
