Fabia auto lights

Featured Replies

Hi everyone i have allready put on here twice about my auto lights not working but a further update. Since the 97cu software update on vehicle to save the battery and close electrical things down that dont need to be running i switch engine on sit there and after about 1min 20secs the auto lights switch on why the delay does anyone know cheers

You should really have kept all these postings on the one thread as it keeps the forum a bit easier to use.

From what you have written, I don't think that you have any other options open to you than having a chat with your dealership that updated the S/W - they, if they have no ideas, can pass this issue back to Skoda for an answer/fix.

Thats the problem i have gone back to my skoda dealer and they sent a email to skoda in milton keynes and they have said that they have had no problems with update and have no idea so my skoda dealer reset the sof****e update and put it on car again but still no difference so they are contacting skoda in milton keynes again so we will see what happens this time

I have just had the exact same problem! My Fabia 3 was taken in for an unrelated matter and I was told there had been a recall and I needed a software update. They didn't know what it covered, but I agreed. Since then it takes a minute or more for my "auto" lights to come on. After chasing the dealership for an answer for a week they finally replied with:

"Having spoke to our technicians, the software update carried out was to optimise the operations of battery usages. making your car more fuel efficient effectively. As a result your lights come on , but takes a few more seconds for them to turn on.
That said there will be other small adjustments that the software has made, to make the car more fuel efficient. I do not currently have a list of all the adjustments the software has made specifically. Should you want to revert back to the old software we could aim to that, however it is something we would have to check whilst the car is here to make sure that it is possible."

I pointed out that if this was to save battery life, then I could just keep the lights switched off all the time and that would prolong the batter considerably. So far as getting better fuel efficiency, sitting there for a minute with the engine running really didn't contribute to that, in fact keeping the car on the driveway switched off, would help fuel consumption more. I haven't had a response from the dealer. I have emailed Skoda customer service and await a reply from them. I'm so please to find someone else who has experienced this! At least I know if isn't me! So it would seem that John65 being told they haven't had any problems with this update is blatantly untrue.

I have exact same problems after a New Battery Fitted & Data Recall UpDate ( Not Requested only advised of it on collection ! ) - MY Head Lights in Auto Position take at least 1 Minute usually 2 minutes to come on & Thereafter when at night parked up in any  Car Park Area  the Headlights failed to come on ( Very Risky ) -Head Lights also Fail come on in Dayligh Darkness I.E Tunnels  - I request a solution at My locally Skoda dealership Marshall Skoda Bedford service Dept. - Today after 2 Hours in service Bay sadly with NO Confirmed Solution - They hopefully will make some form of  Report directly to SKODA  & ask Skoda  for a solution - I certainly wished My Fabia Data had not been Updated - I am very annoyed that My Wife & I have to put up with this failure - Maybe but Highly Doubtful that Skoda will Rectify - If anyone has a solution please let Me know  ?

Hi

Sorry to hear of your troubles, I've just recently purchased a 2 year old Fabia and am missing the auto lights feature I have on my Yeti and did have on the Fabia's predecessor - however after hearing this I think I'm glad I haven't got that feature now!

It reminds me of the ECU updates over the whole emissions scandal, and why so many owners were putting signs on the steering wheel when putting their cars into Skoda for servicing to not apply the update as it caused more problems than it solved. Perhaps owners should do the same in this situation too...

Hi again folks it's Day 2 after the Service Dept. looked into the Auto lights failure - I am very pleased to say the Auto feature on my Fabia is so far working OK - I would like to add when I took My Skoda Fabia into Marshalls Bedford the Service Technician was Very Helpful I can commend All his Efforts & I have found Marshal Skoda to be very helpful

Hi there,

Took my own 2015 Fabia 1.2 TSI (110 bhp) into our local dealers today for a Cam Belt change. Whilst in they also undertook a 'Software Upgrade' and like yourself we now also have the exact same problem, with the Auto Headlights taking anywhere up to 2 minutes to illuminate.

The headlights will come on instantly if you use the manual function but that defeats the whole point of having Auto Headlights in the first place.

I have contacted our own Dealership and await their response, advising that they may wish to contact Marshalls, Bedford who appear to have resolved the same issue for contributor 'Acateus', although sadly no elaboration in his last post as to how that was achieved.

Update on last post.

The Fabia went back to our local dealership earlier this week and they have now sorted the problem, with the Auto Lights working as they should and with no delay in them coming on as before.

Apparently they reconfigured the original Software update to show the car has Auto Lights which was the original issue.

Other than that I have no idea what they did but suffice to say the car is back as it was !!
