I have bixenon lights without the led srips can I have hba without changing them ?

HBA is just a VCDS coding change, if u have the correct A5 front camera.  otherwise, no hardware changes r required, given u already have bi-xenons.  so provided u get the correct front camera retrofitted, u can enable HBA using the how-to here.

SLA (next level) requires headlight hardware and different light control modules, as well new parameter files and code changes.

unfortunately i don't know anything about the A5 retrofits as i've never needed to do one myself.

i do know my Superb has the 3Q0 980 654 G A5 Front Sensor.

i'm not sure windscreen-wise if u need a differnt one - i would imagine so, unless the sensor "holes" r the same.

Do i need any to pass some kind of cable or does the car have it factory fitted . Has anyone done this retrofit ?

Is there a way to store the last state of high beam assist?

With that enabled (or disabled in this case) is HBA persistent as long as you have the lights in the Auto position? e.g you'll get the little 'A'/HBA symbol when the dipped beams are on?

Yeah, just enables memory.

If you don’t have an A5 camera and you only want HBA I recommend fitting a mirror with just a HBA camera. These are about £100 used and just a case of repinning the mirror connection and taking 2 wires to CAN plus coding.

Without the need of replacing the windshield the work is allmost the same correct ? , the price of A5 camera on the net is 80€. In my first post i found a work arround not needing to replace windshield.

No, the A5 camera requires integration into many more systems and then needs ODIS to calibrate. I really don’t think it’s safe to do it the way that tutorial describes if you plan to use it for lane assist as the camera heater is not attached to the windscreen to keep the camera isolated from the windscreen fogging up. Also you would need a HBA camera equipped mirror to mount the A5 camera in. For HBA only you just need a mirror, a wiring loom with 2 wires and VCDS.

And it should remember this after you restart the car after few hours?

For my 2020 superb I don't think it's working 😞

I dont really want lane assist just the HBA ,i`m just afraid that the low line camera wont work as good as the high end camera.

It is, I’ve fitted HBA only to my Dad’s Ibiza and it’s just as good as my A5 camera. 99% of the time it’s perfect but on the odd occasion it needs manual control.

Would you be able to post a part number for the mirror with the HBA camera?
