Loose intercooler pipe?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Over the last few months my car's been feeling a bit slow.

I looked in the engine bay and have found a pipe from the intercooler to the plenum chamber that appears to be a bit loose. It has a metal collar (sleeve) that fixes tight to the rubber hose but it has a bit of slack where it joins the plenum chamber.

I've attached a photo, the arrow points to the spot where it's loose.

Should it be like this or is my pipe faulty?

Cheers,

Just have a wee check that the spring clip holding it on in the plenum end is in place, this is a bit loose anyway but there is a rubber O ring inside to make a seal.

They are loose when the engine isnt running. When the pipe has boost in it the coupling locks up solid.

That's great, thanks very much for checking.

I've checked the air filter and it's very dirty for only 15k miles - the service schedule says 40k between changes! Think I'll be after a new one very soon.

Cheers guys,
