Found tailgate opened

Featured Replies

Hi,

As the title said, it happend 3 times to find the tailgate opened(it's electrical) when arriving at my car 😬. My assumption is that the button on the keyfob got pressed accidentely while the keyfob was in my pocket.

Did this happen also to you? Do you have a solution? I don't use that button almost at all, so I wouldn't mind to dezactivate it, if it's possible.

Thanks!

The same thing happened to me several times with my BMW, and like you, I really don’t use (or need) the electric tailgate. I find it more hassle than it’s worth. I only have it because it came as part of a package containing other options which I wanted.

My solution was to buy a BMW key fob cover, which prevents me from accidentally activating any of the buttons when my keys are in my pocket. Perhaps you could get something similar for your Skoda keyfob?

I would walk to my Sportage  and find it open a few times. Amazingly nothing was ever missing and it could have been opened for hours!! I put it down to a "bum press". I was determined NOT to have an electric tailgate with my Skoda. I got rid of the hated Sportage but if I had kept it I would have had a fob cover as Mark-Surrey suggests.

Yes, this would be one solution.

I'm woundering if the key can be programmed to open the tailgate after the button is pressed for more seconds.

In fact, I keep them in my jacket, so the question is how big my is abdomen! 😂

This has happened to me several times. A couple of times it was when I placed something in the boot before getting in the car then found as I pulled away that I had an alarm stating the boot was open, which means it failed to shut properly on auto. I am sure that I have never accidently touched the button on the fob, its just not a reliable locking system.
