Fusebox confusion

Featured Replies

2019 VRS here.

Trying to free up the dash USB port by (finally) running my Viofo dashcam into the fusebox.

Got the basic kit from Viofo (the camera just needs switched to come on/off with ignition) along with a fuse tap and a box of fuses.

The tap that came with it appears to be the Mini size. Doing some initial prodding with a multimeter, I can't seem to locate any obvious places to piggyback with this tap - do I need the larger sized tap to hit up the usually recommended fuse 47/48?

Also I'm fairly sure all I'll need is a 5V fuse for the camera - and just to confirm my thinking: camera fuse goes in upper position, original fuse goes in the lower slot. Cable from the tap always pointing down. Right?

Thanks all.

Fuse box being 12v, you don’t get 5v fuses for them.

You can get a little 12v to 5v usb connector and wire that in.

Of course - in true Monday style I meant amps, not volts.

I think I've managed to sort it by picking up a standard sized fuse tap. It's gone into an empty fuse 48 and all seems to work.

Sometimes typing problems can solve them just as quickly.
