Goodbye Octy ll - Hello Fabia lll

Featured Replies

Hello guys and girls,  jumping sideways on the forum pages, selling my / my wife's tired FL Octavia ll Scout TDI as spares and or repairs rather than accept the trade in offer, and have ordered and received today a new 2020 Colour Edition Fabia Hatch in race blue / black. Lovely car, well pleased.

Few bits and pieces ordered from Superskoda, and ebay that I couldn't persuade the dealer to add as no cost options and wasn't prepared to pay their retail prices for (armrest, spare wheel, etc), and the VCDS  cable at the ready to turn a few minor options on, and ready to enjoy!

No doubt be asking a few questions, so thanks in advance ;-)

I did much the same 2 months ago, but I traded a 10 year old Octy 4x4 for a 3 year old Monte Carlo.

Need to sort a roof box before we can go on holiday, but otherwise I haven't looked back - lots more fun to drive and much easier to manoeuvre and park. Although I confess my brain is still looking for Octy sized spaces.

Only downside I discovered is that low profile tyres aren't as pot-hole friendly as the standard profile on the 4x4.

Welcome to this side of Briskoda and enjoy!

That's my one main critism of the Montecarlo: the fat low profile tyres are very unforgiving. But to compensate, the MC handles exceptionally well and the tyres have a really good longevity.

Cheers Polar that's reassuring to hear!  We originally went to look at a 2017 MC in meteor grey, but the £ deal was much better on the new Colour edition.  I've bought a few bits like a rear spoiler to help the look of it lol...

I've still got the Transporter T5 LWB Kombi so the mrs will drive the Fabia 70% of the time, her thought's exactly on maneuverability, parking etc, the van can be used for big stuff and camping / holidays etc.

The Colour edition has slightly taller tyres I believe at 215/45 16, so hopefully a bit better on the potholes - we've lots of them too...

My Fabia has 215/45 R16 Dunlops. So beware of potholes! But TerFar is right, they handle much better.

Octy was 205/60 R15, and they were much more tolerant of the Suffolk roads.
