Door knob name?

Featured Replies

Hi all, I'm stuck with a name for a part. Whilst replacing a door panel I misplaced the door lock knob thingy. Its the mechanical button that you push down to lock the car. I can't find the name of it online, or where to find one. Any ideas please?

Thanks all.

Is this what you are looking for? The knob that sticks up through the top of the door card?

Yes! Locking rod and locking knob!   (I was so close!)Thank you so much, I was losing my mind. Any ideas where such a thing could be got in the UK? Just found it on a european site. Its the locking rod and the knob. 14 and 15.

Your local TPS should be able to get one, a breakers on eBay or try your local scrappy

You don't even need one, just delete it. You wanna lock it from inside then press the switch instead.

Yeah, both of mine are deleted and have never missed them. I glued the butttons in the button holes in the down/locked position just to fill the holes.

Lol ok, maybe the owner won't miss it as its the passenger side. Thanks for all your replies!

Agree with it not needed in normal use of the car but I have found it useful when the microswitches fail in the lock mechanism. Becomes part of the desperate attempts at unlocking (pull knob upward with pliers, fob switching, driverside door lock/unlock button operating, interior handle pulling and lock mechanism bashing, all together). So I would replace it.

But you'll never miss it unless the lock microswitches fail and wether it actually helps if they do I don't know.

Ah, if it's a job for a customer, maybe you should replace it. I'm not about to drill out the rivets in my own doors after a DIY problem but I'd be annoyed if there was just a hole there if I'd paid someone to do a job.

Luckily it's a friend who's using my skills(can do attitude) and I get to use the car. Symbiosis. Luckily the door panel isn't riveted so it's easyish. The rod is curvey like a broken pigs tail so I'm not looking forward to doing it.

Also known as door locking pin. In the Golf / Bora Mk4 community it's common to delete those pins and put a plastic plug instead. I owned both. Also known as the Brody Mod.
