vRS Soundaktor volume

Featured Replies

Quick one -

I see a lot of people trying to turn off of turn down the volume of the Soundaktor. I drive mainly in eco but when I sport the Soundaktor isn't that loud. Coming from a Stage 2 GTD with a 3" downpipe my vRS is silent. I plugged in VCDS and volume on 100%. Has anyone found a way of increasing this?

You could try moving it into the cabin

Where is it located? Not a bad idea if I could locate and install neatly

I was joking but it is screwed to the other side of the bulkhead with the wiper motor, lift the bonnet, lift the grill under the windscreen, unscrew, extend the wires through the bulkhead into the cabin and find your place.  Is likely to sound terrible to most people - I have disconnected mine as it sounds rubbish.

Far too much effort I'll just have to settle with its current volume 😂

You can use obd11 to turn the volume up. I turned it off as it drives me nuts. Have a miltek cat-back non res exhaust so prefer that instead.

If VCDS says that its at 100% then it won't go any louder. Looks like you need a stage 2 with a 3" downpipe...😉

I'm with octavia5, turned it off completely.

Haven't figured why people turn it off tbh, it's so quiet and subtle that I don't really notice it and my car generally lives in sport mode so it's on all the time.

I wouldn’t describe it as quiet and it sounds artificial. I’d go as far as to say it sounds crap, to my ear anyway.

Maybe mine was previously turned down then.  I have to concentrate to tell the difference.  If I didn't know about it, I'd never have noticed it existed.

Got a scala on loan and I can't believe how lovely and quiet it is, compared to the RS prior to my switching off the noise maker, it's virtually silent.

The RS without the noise maker is still a tad vocal, but I can live with it. Why Skoda chose to add that junk to it I don't know. If it has to be on there then the owner should be able to enable or disable it and control the volume of it.

Never have mine set to VRS mode anymore. That noise maker drives me nuts. Now the car is set to individual mode where nearly everything bar air con and engine sound is set to sport. With the engine sound set to comfort, just about all the noise maker rubbish sound is gone.

I found mine too loud / fake on default setting. Too quiet fully disabled.

I played around adjusting it in 5% increments until I was happy.

I now have it set to approx 50%, and leave it in vRS mode all the time.

Sounds sporty enough when pushing on, but doesn't drone on the motorway, and doesn't sound noticeably fake any more.

(this was done in Carista by the way)

I’ve muted this in Individual Mode (Engine Sound = Off). Now my start up ritual includes pressing the VRS button and tapping Individual.

Ever since that, I’ve been enjoying the turbo induction noises and that lovely whine as it spools.

I need to make sure I never get that software update that makes you select this each time.   Mine just stays in the mode I left it in.

So does mine thank goodness.

PSA: Had my local VW dealer in Singapore turn the volume down to zero (or any volume I wanted) FOC. So you might want to give that a go.
