Fabia 1.0L TSi dynamic 3 cylinder engine

Featured Replies

What a shame that 3 years on they can only offer customers manual gearbox cars and they will not use the 115ps 1.0TSI & DQ200 DSG that goes to others.

Got to admit that the loan Fabia 1.0tsi manual I had for a week last February was quite fantastic with regards to consumption.

Until I hit the link I did not know the official combined figure for the car/engine/transmission but I was easily able to improve on them despite extensive and mandatory use of the air-conditioner in 40+ deg temps. That was on both urban and highways.

On one flat clear and empty urban 60 kph section of road I turned off the aircon and set the cruise control. It was only for a couple of kilometres but the instant display was floating around the 2.8L/100 (100 mpg) mark.

Extraordinary!

Doing the same on the 1.2TSI, with AC on, consumption sat between 75-80 mpg.

This was my latest roadtrip in a 2019 Fabia wagon 1.0TSI DSG. I definitely get better fuel economy closer to 80km/h rather than 110km/h. The air con seemed to be struggling a bit on that day.

I'd be pretty happy with that return in those conditions and average speed.

The wagon (estate for the poms :) probably does not have great aero so the effects of higher speeds would be pretty obvious.

Not sure I could tolerate 80kph for that sort of distance though.

You'd be surprised, with the same engine the Estate has an ever so slightly higher max speed than the Hatchback, despite being heavier and having a worse 0-60 time.

I'd put that down to better aerodynamics due to the extended rear portion.

The fastest i've been on a certain patch of road (straight flat bit) was actually when carrying a passenger and a full boot of stuff, just squeezing out 116mph indicated. With only me it eventually gets to 114mph. I'm guessing due to slightly improved aero from being a little closer to the ground. I wonder if lowering it will improve it similarly. Downhill though i've reached 121mph 😁 one day i'll remap it instead of buying wheels and brakes and suspension 😂

Wow, that's fast. I don't think I can find a place to go that fast legally anywhere nearby me. What's the fuel economy like at those speeds? 😓

About 22mpg in 5th, 17mpg in 4th @115mph, going downhill i actually ran out of revs in 4th gear but about 21mpg at 121mph 😂

I'd think with a remap to 130-140bhp it would reach 130mph at a push on a straight flat road in 5th, not sure if the 6 speed or DSG would fare any different in terms of vmax

So where'd you attach the drogue chute?

Haha as if a Fabia needs one, that said.. i have a pair of front calipers from a polo gti that will allow a bolt on upgrade to 310mm front discs.. i'll be fitting it that when i get round to rebuilding the suspension.

Suspension and brakes done (along with 254mm vented rears) should improve stopping distance somewhat and help stability too. At the moment braking from high speeds the front nosedives hard and the rear goes floaty and it feels like its gonna spin out if i try brake any harder.

Bit of boredom and a long straight flat bit of tarmac that i happened to be at one end of, and wanted to be at the other, decided to do do that short journey as fast as the car could manage haha

My normal online sources do not seem to have cd figures for the Mk3 hatch or estate, but I think they are usually in the back of the manuals (which I don't have).

There will not be much difference based on your top speed figures anyway.
