Do you like sand?

Hello to all you valiant Briskodians,

Just back from the Great War and the thought of talking with fellow Skoda owners about rusty vehicles was too much to resist, so here I am.

If you miss rust and want more of it, move to the coast...your pride and joy will begin to rust in no time at all and you can enjoy the feeling of it brushing against your fingertips any time you like.

Several years ago, an old friend treated himself to a nice 2nd hand, low mileage Octavia VRS mk1 (I liked it) and drove it around for a few months before having it remapped and all of a sudden it was a rather quick VRS (I liked it a lot!). Despite the strange white seat material, I always remember that car fondly and later looked for an estate version for myself when funds allowed. By that time though, they'd all been messed about with and modded and a decent, low mileage one was nigh on impossible to find so I gave up and bought a Subaru Legacy 3.0 which drained my finances (23mpg) for a couple of years before being retired for something more economical.

A few years passed and my requirements changed . Covering many miles for work I was fed up with getting home every night with an aching back from the lacklustre Leon I was in at the time so my attention turned to finding something more comfortable. I recalled my fondness of the Octavia VRS and began looking for one of the later versions. I looked at a couple and then while at a dealership, came across my current car (2014 Superb Estate) which ticked all the right boxes, although perhaps without the sporty ascpect of the VRS's. I've owned it for just over 3 years now and it brings me here today to say hello to all of you.

There are several little upgrades I've been tempted with during my ownership, but so far the Superb remains factory standard. The closest I've come to changing anything was a new set of alloys but then something came up to swallow that bit of spare cash! Always the way...

MOT test time is here again and my car conveniently decided that the interior was a little dull so it's brightened things up with the arrival of several warning lights on the dash. Nothing to fear I hope and I look forward to speaking about these issues in future posts - I've read various threads on here already which may well be relevant to my sudden dash-disaster so I'm sure this is the right place to get the knowhow on putting things back to normal!
