Well that was a rather short lived ownership.

Long story short some prat who shouldn't have been driving ran into us. We'll see what the body shop say but I have a feeling they'll write it off.

Hope everyone is ok, think it may be terminal for you're Octy though.

I see deployed airbags...

From memory assessors tend to just up to a write off immediately on that?

As long as everyone inside is okay, thats the main thing, as attached as we sometimes get to our cars, ultimately its just a machine. People are lot more important

Deployed airbags = Category S structural damage to them even when there is no damage.

= write off because even repaired the value would be a fraction of what is was before.

They will then sell the salvage to someone like me (see vehicles in my profile).

It sucks but thats the way it is.

Just been looking at another thread where a superb had what looks to be a far bigger impact, no airbags deployed & it was repaired under insurance, I think it would have been parked & unoccupied with ignition off when hit.

Just had an email from insurance, it's a write off and the settlement is £1000 less than what we payed for it a few weeks ago. So not best pleased.

What rotten luck😠  From your photo it does look as though the sub frame has been kinked as well as everything else.   Did you find the other driver?

Their first price is usually just an opening gambit.  If you can show that a similar car is not available for the price they are offering then they have to increase it.  What a crying shame for all the service work you did on the car, as unfortunately that will be lost.

Just to wrap this up, after a bit of back and forward between us, the garage we bought the car from and the insurance, they have agreed to give is what we payed for the octavia.
