many errors many many errors

Featured Replies

ok scanned the car with VCDS and have the following problems, some I think are not too bad to fix not sure about the others:

1) Park assist doesn't seem to work. when selecting reverse I get a brief display on the radio then nothing. also the reverse lights sometimes don't come on. seems like the switch needs adjusting or replacing?

error code: 00576 Terminal 15    008 Implausible Signal.

2) Glow plugs look like there shot.

error codes: 17055 Cylinder 1 Glow Plug Circuit (Q10) P0671 - 000 Electrical Fault.

17056 Cylinder 2 Glow Plug Circuit (Q11) P0672 - 000 Electrical Fault.    This one show up twice.

3) Headlamp wash.

error code: 00924 Relay for Headlamp Cleaning System (J39) 009 open or short to ground.

4) Alarm Horn. Assume battery issue?

error code: 01134 Alarm Horn (H12) 004 No Signal/Communication.

5) Ac not working. low pressure switch seems to have been replaced as its mentioned in the service history. so maybe just needs regassing?

error code: 00229 Refrigerant Pressure 002 Lower Limit Exceeded.

1) Should be cheap\easy fix.

2) Don't worry, all 4 of my glow plugs are shot and it starts fine, now I know having scanned and checked their resistance I just turn the key and go, no waiting for preheat.

3} Ditto, I removed fuse to save wasting screen wash.

4) Trigger the alarm manually to check operation of hazard lights flash and siren sounds, outcome should suggest next action.

5) Given the age of the car I suspect a corroded/leaky condenser.

With he park assist what is likely to be causing the error? When I search I don’t find anyone else with his issue.

the previous owner bought a second hand unit that goes in the boot somewhere but said it didn’t fix it. Also the previous owner to him had a garage do some diag and it lists the error but just says needs further investigation.

Start with why the reverse lights work inconsistently and take it from there, could be a bad switch/wiring that's having a knock on effect.

Replaced the reversing switch and same.

I’ve noticed when you put it in reverse then take it out, for a fraction of a second the radio screen flashes the outline of the car.

I've had the brief car outline flash up on the radio too, I can't recall what the beeper did (I posted on the matter years ago).  In any case replacing a couple of dud parking sensors fixed it.  I wasn't aware of any problems with the reversing lights though.

To check for inoperative sensors:

1) turn the key to on-don't start engine.

2) select reverse gear-verify reversing lights lit.

3) listen closely to each of the 4 sensors located on the rear bumper-you should hear a faint ultrasonic clicking, any silent are dead and need replacing.

@cypher007 What radio is in your car??? It seems it may have been replaced / upgraded. Could this be causing some issues.

Thought it would be a Nexus.

we did listen the other day but non of the sensors clicked. having said that if I have a terminal 15 error wouldn't that mean the unit has no power?

Implausible Signal to me would indicate the lights are on but nobody's home, all 4 sensors could be original vintage and well crapped out by now.

Frequently caused by a broken wire used for sensing "in reverse gear", just where the wire goes into the connector which plugs into the gearbox.

We’ve replaced the reversing switch and the lights work now but still no parking radar.

Going to check supply first as some people are saying terminal 15  008 implausible might be a fuse or supply wire issue. Though I haven’t tried clearing that code since having the new switch fitted. Plus I’m not sure how vcds can talk to the parking ecu if it doesn’t have a supply, unless there are 2?

Ok very odd. Seems someone got confused (pun lol) with the fuse positions. When I checked they had the fuse in the telephone prep position. Moved it to the correct position and now the sensors work.

what I don’t get is why the company a previous owner used to diag this didn’t pick it up, and why it was moved in the first place. Can only assume maybe the dodgy reversing switch made them start trying random stuff as maybe they didn’t notice the reversing lights being intermittent.

doesnt help that the fuse holder diagram is reversed in the manual.

As is the plastic placard behind the fuse box cover, LHD accessories!
