The car was making a noise like something was hanging off, scraping at low speeds or going over bumps. Then we came round the roundabout and this fell off the car. Drives fine but worried what it is and if it might be crucial? It's metal and about 10cm/15cm or so long and has the number 46 on it.

Well, the photo looks like a spreader plate, but we'd need model, engine and probably year to say anything more...

Ok! Apparently the metal is nothing to do with my car and just a coincidence it was in the road where we heard the noise. Infact it was the coil spring for the suspension making the noise and its now been replaced. Thanks everyone! (Btw Skoda Fabia 2016)

Well, it's good that it's solved, but you understand why we'd need to know model, year and engine to identify a part properly?
